Vardan Frunseyevich Akopyan
Vardan Akopyan was born on February 6, 1952 in the city of Gyumri, Armenia.
In 1975 he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, Yerevan State University. After he had finished his postgraduate studies in 1978, he started his teaching career.
In 1992 he became the head of information-analytical centre "Tesaket".
In 1998 Vardan Akopyan started his diplomatic work:
from 1998 to 2002 - Director, Policy Planning Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia;
from 2002 to 2005 - Adviser, Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Bulgaria;
from 2005 to 2008 - Director, CIS Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
In June, 2008 he was appointed the Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in St Petersburg.
His diplomatic rank is Minister-Counsellor.
He is married, with 3 children.
